Along the Huangpu River

Every visitor takes a walk along The Bund, with its classic view of the Shanghai skyline. Though it is not exactly the place for a quiet stroll.

The other side of the river is altogether different, particularly the southern shore east from Lupu Bridge. The riverside promenade has been recently upgraded and what an excellent job they've done.

To get there, take metro line 8 to China Art Museum. Take exit 4 and walk a couple of hundred metres north towards the river (past the Mercedes Benz arena, which looks like a flying saucer). At the river, turn right (east). Unfortunately, it is a bit of a hike to the nearest metro station when you want to exit the walk. The first opportunity is Tangqiao Station, leaving the river in the vicinity of Nanpu Bridge. Further on is Shangcheng Road Station (leave the river at the three Tai Chi statues). Make sure you have a map with you.
